 !! पापांकुशा एकादशी व्रत कथा !!

    पापांकुशा एकादशीला अश्विन महिन्याच्या शुक्ल पक्षाची एकादशी म्हणतात. भगवान श्रीकृष्णांनी स्वत: धर्मराजा युधिष्ठिरांना या एकादशीचे महत्त्व सांगितले होते. … या व्रताच्या सद्गुणरुपी अंकुशाने पाप स्वरूप हत्तीला ठार मारल्यामुळेच त्यास ‘पापांकुशा एकादशी’ असे नाव देण्यात आले आहे. या दिवशी मौन राहून भगवान श्रीहरी विष्णू यांचे स्मरण व भोजन करण्याचा नियम आहे.

    अर्जुन म्हणू लागला की हे जगदीश्वर! मी अश्विन कृष्ण एकादशी अर्थात इंदिरा एकादशी यांचे तपशीलवार वर्णन ऐकले. कृपया कृपा करुन मला अश्विन / चतुर्थ महिन्याच्या शुक्ल पक्षाच्या एकादशीबद्दल सविस्तर सांगण्याची कृपा करा. या एकादशीचे नाव काय आहे आणि उपवास काय आहे? या उपवासाचा काय परिणाम काय होऊ शकतो ? कृपया हे सर्व सविस्तर सांगा.

    भगवान श्रीकृष्ण म्हणाले- "हे कुन्तीनंदन! अश्विन महिन्याच्या शुक्ल पक्षाच्या एकादशीचे नाव पापांकुशा आहे. व्रत केल्याने सर्व पाप नष्ट होतात आणि उपवास करणारा अक्षय पुण्याचा भागिदार होतो.

    या एकादशीच्या दिवशी इच्छित फळ प्राप्त करण्यासाठी भगवान विष्णू यांची उपासना करावी. या उपासनेतून मनुष्यास स्वर्ग प्राप्ती होते. हे अर्जुन! कठीण तपश्चर्येद्वारे ज्या लोकांना जे फळ प्राप्त होते ते फळ त्यांना क्षीर-सागरात शेषनागवर झोपलेल्या विष्णू देवताला नमस्कार करून या एकादशीला तेच फळ प्राप्त होते आणि त्या मनुष्याला यमदेवते चे दुःख भोगावे लागत नाही.

    हे पार्थ! जे विष्णूभक्त शिव किंवा शिवभक्त भगवान विष्णूची निंदा करतात ते नरकात जातात.

    हजार अश्वमेध आणि शंभर राजसूर्य यज्ञाचे फळ या एकादशीच्या फळाच्या सोळाव्या भागाइतकेही नाही म्हणजेच या एकादशी व्रतासारखा दुसरे व्रत या संपूर्ण ब्रम्हांडात नाही.

    ब्रम्हांडात या एकादशीसारखी पवित्र तिथी नाही. एकादशी व्रत न पाळणारे मानव नेहमी पापांनी वेढलेले असतात. जर एखाद्या व्यक्तीने या एकादशीला काही कारणास्तव उपवास केला तर त्याला यमदेवते चे दर्शन होत नाही.

    या एकादशीला हे व्रत ठेवल्याने एखाद्या व्यक्तीला निरोगी शरीर, सुंदर स्त्री आणि पैसा प्राप्त होतो आणि शेवटी तो स्वर्गात जातो. या एकादशी व्रताच्या दिवशी रात्री जागरण करणार्‍या लोकांना स्वर्ग प्राप्त होतो.

    या एकादशीला व्रत करणाऱ्या मानवाचे, मातृ बाजूचे दहा पुरुष, पूर्वजांचे दहा पुरुष आणि स्त्री बाजूचे दहा पुरुष, विष्णूचे रूप धारण करून सुंदर दागिन्यांनी अलंकारित होऊन विष्णू लोककडे जातात.

    जे अश्विन महिन्याच्या शुक्ल पक्षाच्या पापांकुशा एकादशीच्या दिवशी विधिपूर्वक व्रत करतात त्यांना विष्णू लोक प्राप्त होतो.

    जे लोक या एकादशीला जमीन, गाय, धान्य, पाणी, खडाऊ (चप्पल) कपडे, छत्र इत्यादी दान करतात त्यांना यमदेवते चे दर्शन होत नाही.

    एखाद्या गरीब माणसाला यथाशक्ती, जेवढे जमेल तितके दान देऊन काही प्रमाणात पुण्य देखील मिळवायला हवे.

    जे लोक तलाव, बाग, धर्मशाळा, घाट, पाणपोई इत्यादी बांधतात त्यांना नरकाचा त्रास सहन करावा लागत नाही. ती व्यक्ती, या जगात, निरोगी, दीर्घायुष्य, मुले आणि संपत्तीने परिपूर्ण होऊन या ब्रम्हांडात आनंद उपभोग घेतात आणि शेवटी स्वर्गात जातात. भगवान श्रीहरींच्या कृपेने त्यांची दुर्गती होत नाही.

    Papankusha Ekadashi is called the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of the month of Ashwin. Lord Krishna himself had explained the importance of this Ekadashi to Dharmaraja Yudhisthira. It has been named as 'Papankusha Ekadashi' because of the virtuous restraint of this vrata which killed the elephant in the form of sin. It is the rule to remember Lord Srihari Vishnu and eat in silence on this day.

    Arjuna began to say that this is Jagadishwar! I heard a detailed description of Ashwin Krishna Ekadashi i.e. Indira Ekadashi. On this Ekadashi day one should worship Lord Vishnu to get the desired fruit. Through this worship man attains heaven. O Arjuna! The fruit that people get through hard penance is the same fruit that they get on this Ekadashi by greeting Lord Vishnu sleeping on Sheshnag in the ocean of milk and that person does not have to suffer the pain of Yama.
Hey Parth! Those Vishnu devotees who condemn Shiva or Shiva devotees go to hell.
The fruit of a thousand Ashwamedhas and a hundred Rajasurya Yajnas is not even one-sixteenth of the fruit of this Ekadashi, which means that there is no other vrata like this Ekadashi vrata in this entire universe.
There is no sacred date like Ekadashi in the universe. People who do not observe Ekadashi fast are always surrounded by sins. If a person fasts on this Ekadashi for any reason, he does not see Yama.
By observing this vow on Ekadashi, a person gets a healthy body, beautiful woman and money and finally he goes to heaven. People who wake up at night on this Ekadashi vrata get heaven.
On this Ekadashi, ten men on the maternal side, ten men on the ancestral side and ten men on the female side, adorned with beautiful ornaments in the form of Vishnu, go to Vishnu.
Those who ritually fast on the day of Papankusha Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashvin receive Vishnu.
People who donate land, cows, grains, water, sandals, umbrellas, etc. to this Ekadashi do not see Yama.
A poor person should also get some amount of merit by donating as much as he can.
    People who build lakes, gardens, hospices, ghats, panapois, etc. do not have to suffer in hell.     महर्षि अंगिराच्या मते, त्या क्रोधन ने हे व्रत केले आणि केलेल्या सर्व पापांपासून मुक्त केले आणि देवाच्या कृपेने ते या व्रताची पूजा करून विष्णू लोकांकडे गेले. जेव्हा यमराजच्या यमदूत यांनी हा चमत्कार पहिला तेव्हा ते क्रोधन न घेता यमलोकात परतले.
